How to create and romantic bedroom!

To decorate your bedroom it doesn't have to be difficult or expensive. The thing to keep in mind is that you want to create a relaxed atmosphere and to sooth all the senses. This should be your place to connect and enjoy your spouse’s company.

The colour scheme you choose for your bedroom is as important as the decorations. The reason is that colours have a way of connecting with emotions so decorate your bedroom with the colours you love. If you are not sure start looking through home magazines and catalogues and you will be sure to find something you love. Choose bedding that centres on relaxing so avoid using too much grey, yellow or pink. Red, black, white, blue and green is very popular. The newer colours like pearl, bronze and gold can really create a feeling of luxury and are very romantic. Remember all of your senses should be involved for the perfect touch, so adding interesting texture for bedding can be another opportunity to bring out romance. Velvet, faux fur and velour are rich, soft to the touch fabrics that can be used for throws and throw pillows.

By taking away any glare and you're already on the way to a more relaxed and romantic atmosphere! Candles can bring lots of romance into the bedroom for small cost. Candles, of all sizes and shapes generate a warm and inviting room. Group them together in several areas of the room for the best effect. The soft lighting and subtle fragrances that candles can offer a room gives it a romantic ambiance so find several fragrances and colours that you and your spouse love, and make it a habit of burning them. A dimmer switch can also be quite effective and cost very little as long as you can install it yourself. It isn't as difficult as you might think!

Placing mirrors to reflect your softened light will add more depth to your bedroom.

Window dressings that are plush and appealing should darken the room to prevent lights and external noise from interrupting the romantic mood you are creating. The window treatment can match or contrast the bedding and often can be found as an accessory to the bedding set you select. Draperies that billow and flow can add a touch of romance to the bedroom as well.

The bed, of course, is the focal point of the bedroom and the bedding you select can set just the perfect mood. Linen spray or linen powder is a quick and easy way to keep sheets smelling fresh, and the soothing fragrances can calm a stressed loved one. Many people think of silk and satin when thinking of romantic bedding. Both silk and satin can be costly and a bit slippery on the bed. The good news is that the same luxurious effect and feel can be achieved with 100% Egyptian cotton sateen sheets!

If you really want to go all out, you could add a canopy to your bed. This can be created easily by the same effect of a canopy bed with about 10 yards of material like linen, silk or satin and four hooks placed in the ceiling. Simply drape the cloth so that it billows and flows to just above the bed linens. This touch will enhance any spacious bedroom and can provide a bedroom with low ceilings a more spacious feel.

Playing romantic music can make or break the mood in a room. Whether you use a full stereo set with surround sound, or simple iPod speakers, find a way to play music in your bedroom. Choose from a variety of music that soothes both you and your spouse, whether it's a collection of standards, classical, or soft rock with tunes to both relax and create a loving mood. Maybe some potpourri and some fine chocolates and there you have it! You can live in a bedroom that surrounds you with romance every night if you wish. Simply bring together your own creation of romantic touches and enjoy!
